Second Reunion to be Held in New York-New Jersey Metro Area

The USAPMTIAA will hold its Second Biennial Meeting & Reunion on July 20 to 22, 2018 at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel by Marriott in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Many Phar Med Tech alumni from North America and possibly from other continents are expected to attend the event. This 3-day event will feature many engaging activities including a Welcome Reception, Continuing Education Lectures, Dinner Banquet and Ball, Day and Night Tours of New York City, among others. An important item in the Business Meeting is the election of new set of officers and board members for 2018 to 2020. Expected guest of honor is former Dean Victoria Sustento, who served as the first head of the Medical Technology department.
Classes 1967 and 1968 will celebrate their Golden Jubilee while Classes 1992 and 1993 will celebrate their Silver. Come and join your fellow alumni in this wonderful summer weekend event.

PMT Alumni Met in Las Vegas for the First Biennial Meeting & Reunion
Around 90 alumni and guests gathered at the Brunswick Room of the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on June 25, 2016 for the USAPMTIAA’s First Biennial Meeting and Reunion. Golden Jubilarian Ms. Gilda R. Rivero, former Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology, University of San Agustin, addressed the alumni during the Dinner Banquet. She reminded the alumni to seek things that really matter in life and to give back to their family, community and Alma Mater.
The attendees were mostly practicing medical technologists in the US. However, there was also a strong presence of equally successful alumni from Canada. Two pharmacists were present – Ms. Frieda Djohanna Blancia and Ms. Aloja Villaflor-Jalipa (Class 1998 and Class 2002, respectively). The most senior international alumni came from Class 1972, Ms. Leonora Naces Jalipa and Ms. Tita Chin. The youngest was Mr. Andro Eslabra from Class 2006. Mr. Francisco Moreno Jr. of Class 2001 celebrated his birthday during the reunion. The Class with the most attendees was Class 1996 with 10 members present. Ms. Veronica Lotayo of Class 1991 celebrated her Silver Jubilee.
The officers led by their president Dr. Marlon Torrento, were also inducted into office by Ms. Gilda R. Rivero. (June 26, 2016)

AEF Pledges Hit 50% of Goal on July 10, 2016
The Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF) drive hits its milestone as it reaches 50% of its goal of $100,000 by December 2017. On July 10,2016, a total of $50,100 worth of pledges was registered by its international alumni. The Alumni Endowment Fund (AEF) is the flagship among the planned projects of the members of the USAPMTIAA. This is the most important gift of the alumni association to its main beneficiary, the College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology, University of San Agustin located in Iloilo City, Philippines. New York City It Is!
Attendees of the USAPMTIAA’s First Biennial Meeting & Reunion voted to hold the Second Biennial in New York City, New York in 2018. Board of Director for the US East Coast Ms. Shirley Cordova-Chahu has already envisioned a 2- to 3-day event that will most likely include a welcome night, a dinner banquet, a general meeting, CMEs, and city tours. As of this time, a good number of alumni have already sent inquiries about the next event. (June 26, 2016)
Dean Rivero to Attend First Biennial in Las Vegas

Former Dean of the University of San Agustin College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology, Ms. Gilda R. Rivero will be the Guest of Honor during the USAPMTIAA’s First Biennial Meeting and Reunion on June 25, 2016. One of the most beloved and respected mentors of the College, Ms. Rivero has served as Dean of the College from 1994 to 2004. Her deanship has maintained the College’s reputation as one of the leading institutions for training quality pharmacists and medical technologists in the Philippines. She is also the President of the College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology Alumni Association in Iloilo City, Philippines. The event will be held in South Point Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada. PMT Alumni in North America to Convene on June 25, 2016
Close to sixty Pharmacy and Medical Technology Augustinian alumni in North America are expected to gather together for the first time during the USAPMTIAA’s First Biennial Meeting and Reunion at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 25, 2016. These successful Augustinian professionals are based mostly in the US and Canada. As of this writing, it appears that the biggest attendees will come from BS Med Tech Class 1996 with 10 batchmates already registered for the reunion. Former Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Medical Technology Ms. Gilda R. Rivero will grace the event as its Guest of Honor.

The highlight of the event will be a Dinner Banquet which will be attended by around 90 alumni and guests. “It will be an evening of surprises! If you’re around the area, you should never miss this one,” according to Mr. Eldino Defensor, overall Chair of the Event Committee.
Dr. Marlon Torrento, USAPMTIAA President, is encouraging all alumni “near and far to once again stay connected with each other. The officers are working so hard to make this possible. It’s never too late to register.”
